This treasure of medieval architecture was first built in 1100. In 1840 Lord John saw it and fell in love. In the course of 15 years he rebuilt the castle from the ground up and what emerged is a Romantic vision of a Feudal castle, with craggy walls, dragons, coats of arms, beautiful wrought-iron lamps and braziers, medieval frescoes and decorations and an eclectic and lovely mixture of furnishings.

Castello Vincigliata is surrounded by a park with trees, Cypress trees amongst the pines and holm-oaks, creating an unusual mix of conifers and deciduous trees.
