It rises on a small valley surrounded by holm oak woods just a few miles from Siena. Surrounded by houses of the ancient farm, it was built between 1676 and 1678 by Cardinal Flavio Chigi on a project by architect Carlo Fontana, a pupil of Bernini, to celebrate the election to the papal throne of his uncle Fabio Chigi with the name of Alexander VII .

The estate includes the main villa and its annexes, the elegant and geometric garden and a splendid park; on this hill just above the villa it was built a monastery which is reachable through an elegant lawn followed by a long staircase almost two hundred steps flanked by tall cypresses. The staircase is in perfect axis with the villa and it starts from a characteristic semicircular theater.

The villa offers accommodation for up to 23 adults (+ 4 children) in 13 bedrooms and suites. In particular, the 3 large suites are located on the noble floor. The villa staff supervised by the manager includes 4 gardeners, 1 governess, 2 butlers , 5 waiters and a chef.

Within the property, accommodation is also provided in 3 charming farmhouses able to accommodate up to 23 guests in total.
