This is a little jewel in Verona: an intimate and very ancient church that we strongly suggest for Catholic wedding in Verona.

Various parts of its floor are glass-covered allowing views through the remains of a 4th century Paleo-Christian structure.
When the first church was partially destroyed by fire, at the end of 6th century, it was replaced by a second basilica, most on the site of the present-day cloister.
These Paleo-Christian structure were themselves built on pre-existing Roman remains, probably thermal baths and a temple to Minerva.

On the right hand wall of the simple interior is a polychromatic triptych in stone dating back to 1300 and depicting the Madonna, St. John the Baptist, S. John the Evangelist and a faithful follower.

There is also a fifteenth century wooden choral box.

According to history, this is the church in which Dante read his "De quaestio de aqua e de terra" in 1320.
